How to Navigate the School
Getting a key is only half the problem—you still need to find your way back. The South Hell map starts you in a school basement, then sends you searching dark hallways and rooms while Cartman hunts you. Learn the return route to the exit before you venture deep into the school.
Think of the basement as your navigation anchor. Keys need to reach the exit door, and a power outage can send you back downstairs to the fuse box. Before leaving each hallway, look back at the doorway you entered through so you can recognize it on the return trip.
Use room signs to describe your location to teammates. “Computer room” or “gymnasium” gives them something useful to navigate toward when you find a key or need help.

Open the Starting Route and Search Lockers
When boards block the starting doorway, find the crowbar and remove them to reach the school. Give the teammate handling the boards room to work; shoving each other only interrupts the opening scramble.

Once you reach the hallways:
- Search the lockers. Keys are hidden inside some of them, while other searches turn up money or supplies.
- Listen for jingling. A locker containing a key makes a distinctive sound.
- Leave searched lockers open. Use them as a visible record of the ground your team has covered.
- Return with your key. Take it to the exit door rather than continuing through unfamiliar rooms.
Separate the search among teammates instead of checking the same hallway together. Before repeating a long sweep, ask whether someone is already carrying the missing key. Finding it and using it are separate jobs.
Watch the interaction prompt, too: some lockers are hiding places. During a chase, break away from Cartman before hiding rather than climbing into a locker directly in front of him.
Recognize the School’s Main Landmarks
The school includes an art room, computer room, gymnasium, bathrooms, and showers. Use those distinct spaces to keep track of your search instead of treating every dark corridor as interchangeable.

- Art room and computer room: Call out which room you are checking so another teammate can cover a different area.
- Gymnasium: Remember its entrance when searching nearby lockers; it gives you a recognizable destination on the way back.
- Bathrooms and showers: Check your way out before moving farther inside. The bathroom stalls are not interactable, and the bathroom can leave you cornered.
- Rope-accessed upper area: A climbable rope leads to an upper space. Keep track of that route without letting exploration distract you from the active objective.
- Outdoor playground: The school also has an accessible outdoor area. If you reach it while trying to escape, reorient yourself instead of assuming that being outside finishes the round.
Use the Maintenance sign as another landmark near the successful escape route. Remember it before the final chase makes every doorway harder to recognize.
Handle Bells, Darkness, and Power Outages
Alongside the key search, tasks include ringing three school bells and finding a rubber duck. Complete nearby tasks while searching your assigned area, and tell teammates what you have finished.

Keep enough flashlight charge to recognize junctions and room entrances. Spare batteries are available, and darkness raises insanity, adding visual disturbances that make navigation harder. Refill your light before another long search rather than waiting until you cannot see the route.
When the power goes out and the objective directs you downstairs, return to the basement fuse box to restore it.
Listen as carefully as you look. Running is loud, and broken glass creates noise when stepped on. Walk through areas you are searching and save sprinting for getting away from danger.
Find Crank Parts When the Exit Jams
Collecting the keys does not always end the escape sequence. If the exit jams, follow the new objective and search for crank parts.
Look for highlighted white objects on the floor. Shift your attention away from lockers during this stage, and split the remaining search areas among teammates. Keep track of the basement route while checking side rooms so you can return once the door opens.
When the escape prompt appears, head back toward the exit and use your remembered landmarks, including Maintenance, to stay oriented. Keep moving until you reach the escape interaction; reaching the playground or another exterior space alone does not complete the run.
